Residents of the Township will need a woodland permit to cut or harvest trees and/or under story vegetation within regulated woodlands.   Granting of woodland permits allow the Township to closely monitor, track, and enforce the woodland ordinances that are intended to protect public and environmental health.

Criteria for Woodland Designation
  • The presence of at least three contiguous acres of area
  • The existence of canopy coverage over more than one-half of the area OR average tree density of thirty square feet of tree trunk area per acre.

In addition to the above criteria, the woodland board takes into consideration the similarity and distribution of tree species, vegetation density, continuity of soil type, and suitability of wildlife habitat in adjacent areas when designating regulated woodlands.
